UPDATE 3/9

We’ve all had a busy few days and did not send an update yesterday. Michele continues to make small steps forward in her recovery and we can tell that she is determined to get back to normal.
The lumbar puncture that was performed yesterday brought down her swelling again, and she was able to move around a little bit more. She is scheduled for a cat scan tomorrow to review the impact on her brain. The feeding tube through her nose was removed, and she had a procedure to insert a gastro line directly into her stomach. Also, the left chest tube that was draining fluid from her lung was removed. This was a huge step and has probably relieved her from some pain. The tracheotomy tube was supposed to be capped today, and will probably be done tomorrow. She will begin speech therapy and we are all so excited to communicate with her and hear her voice again. This will take several days. In the next few days we expect her to be moved to a regular room and will be able to spend the entire night with her.

Amy held the phone up to Michele’s ear tonight for Alyssa and John John to talk to their Mommy. She looked so calm and relaxed, and actually closed her eyes and fell asleep as John John was telling her how much he missed her and that he loved her SO MUCH. We will make a point to call the kids each night for her to hear their voices. She was definitely tired from the procedures today and is now sleeping peacefully.

Please see the attached pictures taken over the last 2 days.
Love to all,
John
