UPDATE 2/14 #1

Happy Valentine’s Day to all,

Michele had her scan at 10am this morning and the swelling continues to decrease at a very slow pace. The fluid I explained the other day outside the incision is simply blood and will be removed when the time is right. It does not pose any problems at this time and is not in the brain just on the outside between the skin and bone. She continues to fight with her breathing and coughs from time to time which is a good sign. The doctors concerns are in the following order of priority.

Stability and keep her alive: This is done
Brain swelling to decrease: This is in progress
Respiratory: She needs to breathe on her own, she is showing signs of attempting this.
Wake up: We are all waiting on this and we just have to keep praying that she will.
Movement: once awake we will check motor skills, language and memory

Michele and I have never been supporters of Valentine’s Day as we always have said we should say we love each other every day of the year and not just one special day. We never go out to dinner or buy gifts or flowers but simply keep loving each other every day.

Today I bought her first roses and balloon and they sit outside the ICU waiting room for her to wake up and see them through the glass.

Karen will be arriving soon and we will go to see Michele later today and see if she has progressed in any way. I will continue to keep each of you updated on her progress.

John
