UPDATE 2/22

I spoke to Dr Garcia today and her platelets are at 40k today and she is getting more transfusions. Again we want her over 100k. She was able to open her eyes and follow his voice from one side of the room to the other which shows a cognitive response. During her CAT scan she moved her entire right arm which is amazing if you saw how big her arms are from swelling. Although the swelling is from all the meds and fluids going into her they decided to wrap both arms and elevate them to try and bring the swelling down. Her scan was good and the hematoma is decreasing. The brain is centered and the right side is completely normal. The left side still shows signs of swelling but it is decreasing every day and he thinks this is a good sign overall. It could take several months for the swelling to completely go away and only then will we have a full understanding of future prognosis of any neurological damage.

They continue to look for other infections other than the brucellosis but cannot find any to date. The hematologist will take a bone marrow sample today to help try and figure out why she is not producing white platelets. A tracheotomy will be performed as well as a gastro line to help feed her and help her on her breathing as the respirator has been in too long and causes swelling in the throat. When we bring her back home the tracheotomy will be the best option in case of any emergency they can quickly hook her up and when it is not used it is capped off.

Donors are storming the blood bank and I thank everyone that assisted in getting people over hear in Cancun to move so quickly on this. We still need donors as we don’t know who long Michele will need platelets so we want to stock up as much as we can and the rest will be donated to the next person in need.

I was forced to rent a car today to get back and forth as the resort stopped my free transportation and the cab fares were too expensive. Anyways I trust my driving much better that the cabbies so I feel safer.

Please continue your prayers for my Miracle Michele
