As always I feel it very important to get word to you, good or bad. As of this afternoon, Michele is in a controlled coma due to additional swelling on her brain. Her blood platelets dropped severely, and were no longer able to clot the blood around her incision from surgery, causing another hematoma, thus swelling the brain. She will remain in a coma for 3 – 5 days. We are basically back to day 2 of this horrific nightmare and the doctors will monitor her clinical responses every hour. If there is any indication of additional swelling, they will perform emergency surgery to alleviate pressure on the brain. The infection in her lungs remains and she is on antibiotics.
At this time, she is stable. Amy and I will return to the hospital during visitor hours so that she can hear our voices. More than ever, we need your prayers. We need our Michele back.
